An image used as an object of worship.
A false god.
One that is adored, often blindly or excessively.
- 1 Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image,
- neither rear you up a standing image,
- neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land,
- to bow down unto it:
- for I am the LORD your God.
The definition of idolatry has been a contested topic
WRONG "All sin is idolatry " WRONG
Idolatry is the worship of an idol as though it were God.
If one really wanted to hurt a man
he could start a rumor
that his bride is committing fornication
That is what you are doing
when you say you have idols in the Church
The Church is the Bride of Christ
and will never have idols.
- 2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy:
- for I have espoused you to one husband,
- that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
