Beasts of Revelation

Revelation 13:1-18

In this chapter we have two of seven great personalities of this book.

The others are The Sun Clothed Woman, picturing Israel,

Revelation 12: 1-2. Satan,

Revelation 12:3-4; The Child, picturing Christ,

Revelation 12:5-6; The Archangel,

Revelation 12:7-12; The Jewish Remnant,

Revelation 12: 17. All these are important in a study of this great book.

THE BEAST 0UT OF THE SEA

Revelation 13:1-10

A. Here the word "sea" is used to picture the confused mass

of humanity during the great tribulation.

B. The description of this Beast:

1. He has seven heads and ten horns, V.I.

This no doubt refers to the seven Dynasties of the Roman Empire.

The ten horns refer to the ten kings from these Dynasties.

2. Had the appearance of a leopard. Cf with Daniel 7:6.

Leopard used to represent Greece under Alexander the Great

3. Feet of the Beast is like a bear. Cf with Daniel 7:5

where the bear is used to represent the Media-Persian Empire.

4. Had the mouth of a lion, Cf with Daniel 7:4

where the lion is used to represent Babylon under Nebuchadnezzar.

C. In the kingdom of the Anti-Christ where will be all the qualities

of the great Gentile world powers of the past.

This is man's attempt to set up a perfect government.

D. This Beast is empowered by Satan, Revelation 13:3.

1. Satan is seen taking care of his own.

2. Gives him power to continue forty and two months,

or the last half of the Great Tribulation.

THE BEAST OUT OF THE EARTH

Revelation 13:11-18

A. The description of this Beast, V. 11

1. Has the appearance of a lamb, its religious nature.

2. He speaks like a dragon, a Devil,

for he is the Devil's representative on earth.

B. He is empowered by the dragon, same as the Anti-Christ, V 12.

1. He is a great miracle performer.

Shows this is not always an act of God.

2. His purpose is to deceive and cause men to worship the first east.

3. Had power to make the Beast both to live and speak.

C. His chief work is to make men receive the mark of the Beast, VS.16 17.

THE MARK OF THE BEAST

Revelation 13:18

A. What is the mark of the Beast?

1. It is man's number which is, six.

2. Since man is a trinity, soul, mind and body,

the number is a trinity of six's, 666.

3. This pictures all the power of man; power of his soul,

or mind, power of his spirit, and the power of his body,

all combined to perfect a world government.

B. God's number is seven,

with all man can do, he can never reach perfection.

CONCLUSION:

All the powers of the world, politically, economically and religiously,

are moving toward the fulfillment of this prophecy.

We see the shadows of these coming events

as they move across the world's scene at this time.
