The table was the center of:
1. Union
2. Nourishment
3. Fellowship
It is only as we draw near to Christ that we will draw near to each other.
Let a church be taken up with Christ, they will fellowship.
Golden Candlestick:
I. Ex 25:31-40; Ex 27:20-21
A. The candlestick was both a light and a light bearer.
So Jesus was a light and a light bearer. John 1:9; Isa 42:6; Isa 49:6
B. Jesus as The Light. John 8:12; I John 1:5-7
C. Candlestick is a true reminder that the Christan was and is not to walk by natural light.
This light was closed in and hidden from all natural light.
Inside you have:
The vision
The bread
The light
The cherubim
The blood
The incense
The mercy seat
Are you in Christ? Do you hold all these within yourself?
D. What made the light burn? Ex 27:20 Oil was anointing. Jesus was anointed. Acts 4:27; Isa 61:1.
Oil was a type of the Holy Spirit. John 3:34
E. How was the oil made? It was beating by the children and therefore bruised. Isa 53:10.
Olives were crushed to produce the oil for the light.
He was crushed for us.
F. The light as a church. Rev 1:20; Rev 2:5
Christ is the center shaft. Mat 18:20
G. What kept the light burning. Attendance of the light, keeping it clean daily.
Wick needed trimming and cleaning.
Lamp chimney needed washing and cleaning.
Replenishing of oil is essential to brightly shining light.
Without the Holy Spirit's power we are powerless and dull.
