Veil was rent from the top to the bottom

When Jesus "yielded up the ghost" (died)

the the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom

It separated the Holy of Holies

we can talk to God directly.

We do not have to go through a priest.

From top to bottom shows that man could not do it.

50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom;

and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
